Aural Rehabilitation
Aural rehabilitation therapy is conducted by the Communication Therapy Specialist to those individuals who have been identified as hearing impaired and who respond to any of the therapeutic techniques.
The techniques utilized in training/treatment may include:
- adaptation to amplification device,
- total communication methods,
- visual cue development,
- preferential seating,
- environmental manipulation to improve
signal-to-noise ratios, and
- possibly speech reading or cued speech.
