Verland President, Carol Mitchell, recognized for 40 years of service
A special celebration took place at the home of Nancy Chalfant, a dear long-time friend of Carol's in Sewickley, PA on the evening of June 7th, 2003. Carol was awarded the "Heroes of Human Services Award" from Sinclair Broadcasting Group, Inc. She is the first recipient of this award, and is honored for her 40 years of service to the mental retardation community. Participants at this event included persons who assisted and benfited from Carol's career and also included Verland's current and past board members, as well as many donors and good friends.
