| Verland
was incorporated in 1978 as a community response to the need for comprehensive
services for individuals with severe and profound mental retardation. Since
1978, the Verland Family included three operating corporations ... The Verland
Foundation Inc., Verland CLA and Verland Commons. These corporations provide
choices, supports and services to over 225 individuals living in forty-seven (47)
homes. |
|
| One
of our newest facilities, Verland's ICF/ORC (Intermediate Care Facility
for individuals with Other Related Conditions), provides supports and services
to eight individuals who formerly lived in nursing homes. One of only three
homes of its kind in Pennsylvania, this lovely home on six acres in Natrona
Heights offers a supportive living environment while preparing its residents
for the transition from group home living to independent living and gainful employment. |
|
| Verland's addition in Upper St. Clair is one of the few public/private homes in the Commonwealth. The result of unusually creative fundraising, this
home was financed by a private family for their own child with the expectation
that a total of three individuals would live there. |

Verland CLA (Community Living
Arrangement) has implemented several innovative programs in response
to person-centered planning to ensure that individual choice occurs,
critical partnerships are developed and necessary community and work
supports are utilized.

|
| Throughout
all its growth, Verland continues to be a responsible fiscal partner with
its funding governmental agencies as well as its donors. |
