Hello Everyone,
It is that time of year again. Verland
Sewickley campus is participating in the Presents for Patients Program through
Saint Barnabas Nursing Homes. I am currently putting together the “wish
lists” for the individuals on this campus. St. Barnabas is in the process
of making new cards, which will be mailed to me shortly so I can display them
around campus.
If you should receive a phone call asking whether
or not we are participating in the program, please tell them yes, we are
participating. You can transfer the call to me.
Just to give you some background information on
the program: Saint Barnabas Nursing Homes started this program in
1984. Many nursing homes/ residential facilities participate in this
program by sending wish lists (from the residents at the facilities) to St.
Barnabas. Families, businesses, girl scouts, boy scouts, etc. Call
St. Barnabas and “adopt” a resident and the wish list is sent to them so they
can buy a present for the resident for the Holidays. If a resident of a
facility is not “adopted”, the resident will still receive a gift from St.
Barnabas. In the last few years, we have been able to “match” 95% of the
individuals on this campus. Thank you for all of your support with this
program.
If you happen to know of any businesses,
volunteer groups, etc. that would like to participate this year (by ‘adopting’
one of the individuals); please let me know. We could even put a “Giving
Tree” at the business with the cards already attached to the tree (Like the
angel trees you might see at department stores.) Boy Scouts and Girl
Scout troops will receive a badge for participating in the program. They
would have to register through St. Barnabas in order to receive the badge.
If any of you would like to participate this
year, please let me know
Thank you
Happy Holidays!!
