Verland Endowment
Government
funding to support people with mental retardation is absolutely essential to
the operation of human service organizations such as Verland. Mere government
support, however, could never account for the extraordinary level of professional
and personal supports and services for which Verland is known. Over the last
25 years, the leadership at Verland has successfully raised over $13,000,000;
all in the hopes of ensuring that the dignity of each individual's lifestyle
is never compromised.
We believe this generous level of support from both the public and private
sectors reflects an enthusiastic endorsement of the far-reaching initiatives
and person-centered programming that have distinguished Verland's reputation.
In the eyes of the people managing as well as those benefiting from these
funds, there are no small donations. Indeed, every dollar and every "in-kind"
service is deeply appreciated. Over the past two decades, donations to Verland
have come in the form of direct gifts from individuals and business entities,
as well as personal bequests, public and private grants and physical property.
Securing outside support is an on-going challenge that will necessarily
remain at the heart of Verland's continued success. Those interested in furthering
Verland's needed endeavors are welcome to call our development offices at (412)
741-2578.
