As Verland’s expertise became widely recognized an opportunity to establish a new entity occurred. Opening on June 21, 1994 an Intermediate Care Facility for Other Related Conditions (ICF/ORC) was built on a six-acre piece of property on a quiet cul-de-sac in an attractive residential neighborhood that is located twenty miles north of Pittsburgh in the small Allegheny River town of Natrona Heights, PA. One of only two ICF/ORC located in Pennsylvania, the Verland ORC provides services for persons with profound physical disabilities but with no intellectual disabilities.
The ORC serves the residential and program needs of individuals that have suffered a head injury or other related condition prior to age twenty-one without any intellectual disabilities. We provide 24/7 Direct Care Support and Nursing Support on site daily and on call 24/7. The goal of the ORC is to train the individuals to be as independent as possible through a detailed goal plan developed by a Qualified Other Related Condition Professional (QORCP) and a Health Services Supervisor. Once the daily living and medical needs goals are achieved the individual is ready to explore moving on to a less restrictive living arrangement in the community.
