Community Living Arrangements
Community Living Arrangements (CLA) is a non-profit agency providing community-based services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Verland CLA homes are located throughout Western Pennsylvania spreading across Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, and Mercer Counties.
Verland’s Community Living Arrangements (CLA) offer personalized homes and programs throughout Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Mercer, Venango, and Washington Counties. We provide ongoing support for individuals with disabilities through a person-centered approach focused on community integration and socialization. We support individuals we serve across Western Pennsylvania in finding the essential resources they need in their own neighborhoods. However, our direct, on-call specialized care and 24/7 professional staffing are specifically focused on serving individuals at our Verland Sewickley Campus. By focusing our expert resources here, we ensure that those requiring the highest level of specialized attention receive the authoritative, stable care they deserve.
Health Services for Special Needs / Disabled Adults
Individuals with disabilities often have complex health needs that require expert management and compassionate care. Within our communities, those that we serve have direct access to a comprehensive suite of health services, ranging from primary medical and dental care to specialized therapy. Accessing these vital services is seamless for individuals at our Verland Sewickley Campus because our medical facilities and expert staff are located directly on-site. This campus-based model ensures prompt attention in a stable environment, allowing individuals we serve to thrive in a familiar setting with medical professionals they know and trust.
CLA homes provide a familial atmosphere while providing 24-hour supports to the individuals who reside in the home. At Verland, each CLA home is centered on the unique needs of the individuals we serve. CLA homes promote independence through the use of assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and ensuring homes meet the physical needs of each individual.
Verland provides an “Everyday Lives Lifestyle” with person-centered programming that is specific to each individual’s interests and needs. Highly-trained Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) assure the health and safety of each individual and assist individuals in performing activities of daily living. Verland DSPs accompany individuals on a variety of activities
including bowling, shopping, movies, and dining out. Verland also encourages individuals to participate in meaningful work through competitive employment, vocational training, and volunteer opportunities.
In addition to the adult Resident Services and Community Support Services, Verland CLA also qualifies to provide out-of-home Respite Care Services when vacancies are available in our group homes. Verland CLA can provide 31 days of Respite Care in a calendar year. In addition, an individual who is admitted under Respite Care can become a permanent resident, if he/she chooses to do so, and is compatible with the other individuals in the home.
Education and Skill Building for Disabled Adults
Verland provides educational opportunities tailored to help disabled adults build vital life skills essential for community integration. We empower individuals to pursue vocational roles and activities that boost their confidence and long-term quality of life. For those at our Verland Sewickley Campus, these programs are integrated into daily life, providing a supportive pathway toward independence. Every program is guided by our expert, optimistic staff who are committed to seeing every individual we serve reach their full potential through personalized learning and support.
Community Connection for Special Needs Adults
Meaningful relationships are central to the Verland mission. Individuals we serve within our facilities have constant opportunities to connect deeply with others, building bonds that enrich their lives and foster a sense of belonging. While these social connections complement natural family bonds, they provide a vital support network for the individuals living within these communities. Through our respite program, individuals we serve can also interact with others seeking short-term care, particularly within the vibrant community of our Verland Sewickley Campus, where socialization and mutual support are celebrated every day.
